News & Events Monica Pyle to wed Tony Heerema. Former Southeast Island School District music teacher Joe Pyle returned to Thorne Bay for the Sandy beach wedding of his daughter Monica who is student teaching in the Thorne Bay School system. Joe is remembered as an excellent teacher and for catching several halibut from the shore on Narrow Point that weighed in excess of 100 lbs. News & Events Thorne Bay District Ranger Dave Schmid and wife Sandy transferred to the Custer National Forest in Red Lodge Montana. Thorne Bay will miss these two dynamic people and daughter Maya. A large farewell party with 150 guests and Pig BBQ number 37 by Kim Redmond wished the Schmids farewell. Pictures follow, click to enlarge.

News & Events The community lost Jack Harrison, Chip Hasse, Steve Niles, and Kevin Gresham during this period. A Memorial was held for Kevin at Davidson's Landing on March 12. Over 120 of Kevin's friends showed up for potluck, spirits, stories, and fellowship for the two to three day service.  Kevin was a rugged individualist, a free spirit, freedom loving, and stand up sort of guy. Under that rough exterior beat a heart of gold. "Top Hat Charley" we will miss you! Picture follows, click to enlarge.

News & Events The Prince of Wales Chamber of Commerce met in Thorne Bay on February 5th. The date for the Fair and Logging Show has been set for July 30th and 31st. The US Air Force band will perform. Picture follows, click to enlarge.

News & Events Veterinary Ken Hill from Cordova visited Thorne Bay on his boat to provide a necessary service.

News & Events Jeannie McFarland and Colleen MacCannell returned after successful surgery. The outlook for both is a full recovery. The community wishes them well.
